Studio Process

The Obsidian Guild Studio Process

Every piece produced by Obsidian Guild Studio moves through a carefully controlled production process designed to preserve the artistry of the original sculpt while delivering collector-grade display quality. From digital design to final inspection, each stage focuses on precision, craftsmanship, and presentation.

1. Artist Sculpt Creation

Every sculpture begins with a detailed digital sculpt created by renowned artists in the collectible statue community. These designs capture dynamic poses, dramatic composition, and expressive character detail intended to translate into powerful display pieces for collectors.

2. Model Preparation & Production Planning

Before fabrication begins, each sculpt is carefully prepared for production. The model is analyzed for optimal scale, structural stability, and part separation. This preparation ensures that intricate details are preserved while maintaining the integrity and balance of the final sculpture.

3. Precision Fabrication

Using high-resolution fabrication technology, each component is produced in premium grade resin to capture the fine textures and sculptural detail of the original design. This process allows even the smallest features—armor textures, fabric folds, facial expression—to be reproduced with remarkable clarity.

4. Studio Finishing & Preparation

After fabrication, each component enters the studio finishing stage. Supports are carefully removed, surfaces are refined, and parts are prepared for assembly or finishing. This step ensures the sculpt maintains its intended form and display quality.

5. Final Inspection & Collector Presentation

Before leaving the studio, every piece undergoes final inspection to ensure it meets Obsidian Guild Studio’s collector-grade standards. Components are reviewed for detail quality, structure, and presentation so collectors receive a sculpture worthy of centerpiece display.

Obsidian Guild Studios — Frequently Asked Questions

Are your statues mass-produced?

No. Every piece from Obsidian Guild Studios is made-to-order using premium grade resin and produced in limited quantities. Each statue is individually crafted, finished, and quality-checked to meet collector-grade standards.

What materials are used?

All products are created using premium grade resin for exceptional detail, durability, and surface quality. This allows for sharp sculpt fidelity and a true display-worthy finish.

What finish options do you offer?

We offer three collector-focused finishes:

  • Unassembled & Unpainted (UU): A raw kit intended for experienced hobbyists who prefer to assemble and paint their own pieces.
  • Prepped & Primed (PP): Fully assembled, cleaned, and primed—ready for painting.
  • Hand-Painted (HP): A commissioned, studio-finished collectible completed by hand.

How do Hand-Painted commissions work?

Hand-Painted pieces are commission-based. A deposit is required to begin production, with the remaining balance due upon completion. Each piece is painted by hand, making every final result unique and one-of-a-kind.

What are your production times?

All items are made-to-order. Estimated production timelines are:

  • Standard Sizes (1/6 – 1/4 scale):
    • Unassembled & Unpainted / Prepped & Primed: 2–3 weeks
    • Hand-Painted: 4–6 weeks
  • Gallery Scale (1/3 scale):
    • Unassembled & Unpainted / Prepped & Primed: 4–6 weeks
    • Hand-Painted (Commission): 8–12 weeks

Production times may vary depending on model complexity and current production queue.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we ship worldwide. International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, or import fees required by their country.

How are items packaged?

All items are carefully packaged using protective materials to ensure safe delivery. Larger or more complex models may ship in multiple parts to prevent damage during transit.

Can I cancel or return my order?

Due to the made-to-order nature of our products, all sales are final once production has begun. Cancellation requests must be made within 24 hours of placing your order.

Are these official licensed products?

Some items are fan-art interpretations created by independent artists. These are not officially licensed products and are intended strictly for collector and display purposes.

Will my piece look exactly like the photos?

Each item is individually produced. Minor variations in finish, color, or assembly may occur—especially with hand-painted commissions. These variations are part of the handcrafted nature of the product.

Do you offer custom work or special requests?

Yes. Select custom commissions may be available depending on scope and availability. Please contact us directly to discuss your project.
